History of the band.

the band

Baxenden Concert Band was formed in the early 1990's by Major John Boden, a retired Army Musical Director. His aim was to offer young people the opportunity to meet together and make music as an alternative form of entertainment. The band was formed with the support of several local families and Baxenden Methodist Church and since these early days the band has seen many changes both in personnel and size. Players of all age groups and abilities are welcomed, the only requirement for membership being a basic knowledge of music and the willingness to learn.

Baxenden Concert Band is especially pleased to support the work of the Multiple Sclerosis Society, particularly as one of our most established members is afflicted with MS. The annual "Cake Break" is an ever popular event despite the problems of crumbs getting into the works!
