Little known facts about concert bands;
- At least 50% of tuba players are called "Dave"!
- Saxophones are not "brass" instruments, but some players are "brass necked"!
- A euphoniumist is a person who can play a wrong note with conviction!
- The fastest conductors practise with a copper baton on the tops of tall chimneys.
Read cricket club July 2008
Read Cricket Club Fair on Sunday July 13th 2008, one of the few nice days of the Summer. The band played on a slope at the top corner of the field. The assortment of headgear on view protected some delicate scalps from the sun. Perhaps we need some natty blue baseball caps!
Baxenden Concert Band is especially pleased to support the work of the Multiple Sclerosis Society, particularly as one of our most established members is afflicted with MS. The annual "Cake Break" is an ever popular event despite the problems of crumbs getting into the works!
